706ers New Home: The James Brown Arena

AUGUSTA, SEPTEMBER 20, 2018 - The Augusta 706ers are excited to announce that they will play their 2018-2019 home games at Augusta’s James Brown Arena. After several months of talks with the arena’s management, the 706ers have secured their home venue for the upcoming season.

When asked about what playing in the James Brown arena means for this young franchise, President and CEO Scott Killebrew said, “This is a fantastic opportunity for our team, and we couldn’t be more fired up. We had our eyes on the James Brown Arena as a home venue from the moment we started this team, and now we’ll be tipping off there in just a couple months, it’s surreal. I know that our guys are excited to be playing in front of their home crowd, on its biggest stage, and trust me when I say, they will not disappoint.”

Vice President Devin Burnside was excited to see professional sports come back to the city of Augusta at such an iconic venue: “I love pro sports, from football to baseball to basketball to golf and everything in-between. To be able to share my passion with the city of Augusta is truly a dream come true, and I can’t think of any better place to do that than the James Brown Arena.”

Scheduling for the upcoming ABA season is currently underway, but look for your 706ers to take the court in their home opener November 10th.

Sponsorship and advertising opportunities are still available for the 2018/19 season: contact Marketing Director Mike Peralta at mperalta@augusta706ers.com for information.

Augusta 706ers and #Mission22 Unite in the War against Veteran Suicide

AUGUSTA, September 10, 2018 – The Augusta 706ers and #Mission 22 partner up this season to aid in the war against Veteran suicide.

According to the Department of Veterans Affairs 20-22 Veterans commit suicide everyday, a fact know all to well by the members of Augusta Professional Sports, LLC, the parent company of the Augusta 706ers, who recently laid to rest a close friend and coworker. “This is a very real and a very personal partnership for all of us in the ownership group” said CEO Scott Killebrew, “Because we have the platform that we do and the access to the media that we have, we feel morally obligated to sound the trumpet and bring this shocking statistic to light, we are humbled and honored to work together, with Mission 22 until that 22 becomes a zero, we are going to help change lives this season”.

As part of this partnership at the 2018/2019 home opener the Augusta 706ers will officially retire the number 22 from competitive play in honor of those we as a community have lost. Together with Mission 22 the 706ers will create special military themed 706ers gear to include a special commemorative #22 Jersey. A portion of all profits sold from the commemorative jersey will go directly to support Mission 22 and its vast array of Veteran outreach programs not only in the state of Georgia, but nationwide.

Elder Heart is the 501C3 behind Mission 22. It's Board of Directors is comprised of Special Forces operators Magnus Johnson, and Mike Kissel and Infantryman Brad Hubbard. Because of their personal battles with PTSD and TBI they have made it their mission to raise awareness, enlist support, and end veteran suicide in America.
